Founded at the foot of Mount Haku in the early 8th century, Natadera is a temple that embodies a profound sense of unity with nature, built to blend seamlessly with the surrounding rocks, trees, and moss-covered mountainside.
A precious experience participating in the homa fire ritual under the guidance of monk Toshiken Yoshida. This ancient Buddhist ceremony involves lighting small fires before altars dedicated to various deities and burning wooden tablets (gomagi) and prayers written on paper.
You may choose a private tea ceremony experience at the temple grounds' tea house, Nyuze-an. This simple yet elegant structure was built in the mid-17th century by the legendary tea master Sen Sōshitsu IV. The tea utensils used during the ceremony include lacquerware and Kutani ware, cultural treasures of the Hokuriku region.
